Head Start Program
CEDA Northwest’s Head Start Program is a pre-school program for children 3 to 5 years old. CEDA Northwest has Head Start facilities in Des Plaines, Schaumburg and Prospect Heights. In addition to preparing the children for the educational and social aspects of elementary school, the program assists with medical and dental needs. Children receive transportation to and from school and hot meals every day. Parents are also encouraged to volunteer for the program
Scholarship Program
The scholarship program at CEDA Northwest is designed to help low-income individuals who are interested in furthering their education. Students must be attending or planning to attend an accredited post-high school or graduate institution in Illinois.
The scholarship is a one-time monetary assistance for educational expenses. It may be used toward tuition costs, textbooks, necessary supplies, etc. Typically, applications become available in the spring (early March) and are due at the end of May. Monies are typically awarded in August.
There are different types of scholarships available. There are scholarships for undergraduate studies, there is a scholarship for graduate studies in the fields of community development, social work, and social development, and there is a scholarship available for students in the medical field, with a preference for nursing students.
