Children and Fathers Program
The Children and Fathers Program works to support stronger father connections and promote their children’s best interests. The Children and Fathers Program serves fathers seeking to have a positive, responsible and constructive role in their children's life.
The Children and Fathers Program helps reconnect fathers with their children, both emotionally and financially. Fathers receive case management services, financial counseling, employment assistance, limited legal assistance, recreational activities and conflict resolution opportunities. In addition, fathers can participate in a twice-monthly men’s support group to discuss fathers’ issues.
The Children and Fathers Program works with all types of fathers: married, unmarried, divorced, custodial and non-custodial. The Program also works with mothers who desire a closer relationship between her children and their father and children who would like to improve their relationship with their father.

The Children and Fathers Program seeks to help fathers and families however it can. One area of focus has been to spare families continued costs and stress over ongoing divorce litigation. An example of this occurred with C.C., a father of two. He has custody of his 13-year-old daughter and his ex-wife, D.W. has custody of their 10 year-old son. C.C. acknowledged that he owed D.W. back child support, however the amount was in dispute. D.S. had virtually no relationship with her daughter, allegedly because of her daughter’s aggressive behaviors toward her younger brother. Consequently, D.W. was not cooperating in the visitation between C.C. and his son. D.W. served C.C. with a contempt of court motion for the back child support. CEDA Northwest contacted D.W.’s attorney and arranged for several meeting between C.C., D.W., her attorney, and myself. During the course of these meetings, the back child support and visitation issues were resolved. Counseling was also arranged between the siblings and between D.W. and her daughter, which C.C. was most thankful for since he stated he had been unsuccessful in doing that for five years.
