Volunteers Make a Difference at CEDA Northwest

CEDA Northwest is fortunate to have the skills, time and support of dozens of wonderful volunteers. From stocking food pantry shelves to updating databases, our organization runs better, faster and smarter due to all of their efforts. Here are some of the ways people are making a difference at CEDA Northwest:

Pat Kivlahan: Pat Kivlahan generously donates her time and many talents to ensure CEDA Northwest’s success. On October 15, Pat celebrated 14 years of volunteer service at CEDA Northwest. Pat’s longevity as a volunteer speaks volumes about her dedication and about the quality of CEDA’s programs. When asked what keeps her coming back year after year, Pat said: “I totally respect the work they are doing. I see the results of all of their work.”

Throughout the years, Pat has volunteered in a variety of ways. For three years, she managed the Children's Holiday Program. Running this heartwarming service gave Pat the opportunity to work with CEDA Northwest’s donors and participants. In the early stages of the holiday season, she interviewed participants to find out the children’s holiday wants and family needs. Groups, companies and local families purchased gifts and food and delivered the wrapped packages at CEDA’s doorstep. Pat organized the donations and ensured the participant families received the right packages. Pat insists that it is hard to tell who benefits most. “When you see the looks on their faces – both the recipients and the donors” is when she knew the program was a success.

Pat is a tremendous help to CEDA, but even she can’t do it alone! Pat’s advice to potential volunteers: “Come in and see the work that CEDA is doing. There are unlimited ways people can volunteer.” Pat’s schedule allows her to volunteer regularly, but everyone can make a difference whether serving one day a week or one day a year.
